🌼 Kindergarten's "Friendship Week" was filled with so many memorable lessons and activities! They started off learning about "Stick" and "Stone", went on a friendship walk, made a friendship fruit salad craft, and friendship bracelets in Makerspace. It was a great week learning about and getting to know their amazing friends in Kindergarten!
🍎🍏 Apples here, apples there, apples EVERYWHERE! Kindergarten's apple week was fun and delicious. They completed an apple counting math activity, used their 5 senses to try red apples, green apples and yellow apples, and then learned to graph their favorites. The class wrapped up the week celebrating Johnny Appleseed's birthday & learning about who he was, all while enjoying apple muffins they made themselves!
🐴🍂 Our K, 1, & 2 students had some fall fun down on the farm yesterday! They picked pumpkins, went on wagon and pony rides, and met and learned all about tons of cute animals.
They even were introduced to Mrs. Marilyn Kelkenberg, Akron Acres co-owner and St. Mary School alumnus! Marilyn shared some fond memories of her days at SMS, and we're sure this field trip to the farm will become a wonderful memory in the minds of our current students. Thank you Marilyn!
🍎✏️🐝 They're on their way! Kinder, smarter, braver, and stronger than on their first day. We can't wait to watch our Kindergartners be the best that they can be! Kindergarten Moving Up Day was a wonderful celebration for our families and students, enjoy more photos here: https://tinyurl.com/mr2v2a6p
Happy Father's Day to all of our SMS Dads, Grandpas, & Godfathers! A few weeks ago our Pre-K, Kindergarten, & 1st graders had the opportunity to celebrate their Dads with a sweet treat - donuts! We're thankful for all father figures today, & offer this prayer for them:
🙏 Heavenly Father, you entrusted your Son Jesus, the child of Mary, to the care of Joseph, his foster father. Bless all fathers & grandfathers as they care for their families. Give them strength & wisdom, tenderness & patience, give them ability to love in a way that reflects your love. Support them in the work they have to do, protecting those who look to them, as we look to you for love & salvation. Help us to love them in a way that would bring honor to You & them. Amen.
🦓🦒🦏 Lions, & tigers, & field trips, of my! Grades K, 1, & 2 had a roaring good time last week on their field trip to the Buffalo Zoo. See more photos here: https://tinyurl.com/yc4mszsy
🎶🎨 Beautiful weather outside, beautiful artwork inside, & our students' beautiful voices in song made this year's Night of the Arts one of the best yet! SMS families came together last Fri. night to celebrate their children's achievements in the arts, enjoy time together, & sample some delicious treats from the food trucks available!
A HUGE thank you goes out to Mrs. Genovese & Mrs. Daigler for their hours of hard work put into making this year's Night of the Arts come together!
💛🩵🩷 Thank you to the Moleski family for bidding on the “Kindergarten Glow Party” experience in our recent Magnificat Silent Auction! Miss Gon's Kindergartners wore their neon colors to school yesterday & enjoyed an afternoon of painting under black-lights & watching those neon colors GLOW! The paintings they created were brought home as a great Kindergarten memory. They also had a glow stick dance party & enjoyed a special treat chosen by the winning student - cupcakes!
🌊 Our Kindergarten students are having a whale of a time learning about oceans! They learned all about the life cycle of a sea turtle, practiced following directions & number sense with a sea horse coloring activity, & are learning the names & locations of all 5 oceans. How many can you name? Tell us in the comments!
If you're thinking about enrolling your child for Kindergarten at SMS, the time to do so is NOW! We're scheduling Kindergarten screenings for incoming students in early June, & our enrollment checklist must be completed by July 1, 2026.
💐☕️Our K & Pre-K families had a wonderful time at the Mother’s Day Tea! Thank you to all who made the day beautiful!

🐰🌸 🐣🪺Happy Easter from our SMS Kindergartners! Before Easter break, the class had an Easter celebration - they enjoyed a snack based on the Easter Story from the Bible, completed a fun, festive craft, & even had a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny who left them a classroom full of bright & colorful Easter eggs to hunt for! It was a hip-hoppity kind of day!
🩷🐥 🩵 Peep... peep... it's almost Easter! Our Kindergartners recently used Peeps in a science based lesson. Students chose one descriptive word to characterize the outside & inside of a Peep using their five senses. They also designed their very own Peeps & filled in an "all about me" poster using their writing skills. What a sweet day!

💯🤓☀️ We had a fantastic 100th day of school this week! Students were invited to dress up as 100 year olds, or create a shirt featuring 100 items. We saw lots of creativity! Grades Pre-K through 2 enjoyed a fun filled day with "100" inspired activities, including making a necklace with 100 Froot Loops or Cheerios, completing a search and find of 100 Hershey Kisses, keeping a balloon in the air for 100 seconds, and more. We are 100 days brighter! Click here to see even more photos: https://tinyurl.com/yx989fxz
🐄🥛 Our Montessori Pre-K- through grade 2 students had fun before February Break watching the Milk for Health Magician, Rob Allen! His nutrition and dairy focused magic show is always a hit among crowds of all ages.
It's another #throwbackthursday - Kindergarten style! Miss Gon's Kindergarten cuties colored some beautiful bees during Catholic Schools Week, then delivered them to the mailboxes of SMS teachers & staff. What a nice way to show appreciation for all that our hardworking staff does each & every day!
