Now in the place where he had been crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had yet been buried. So they laid Jesus there. ~ John 19:41-42

HOLY SATURDAY – March 30th
Morning Prayer - 9:00 am in the chapel
Blessing of Easter Baskets - Noon in the chapel
EASTER VIGIL – 7:00 pm in the church
The Easter Vigil is the restoration of the early Church’s tradition as the great celebration of adult baptism and confirmation. It is the high point in the liturgical year. The vigil begins in darkness (usually outside) and the long procession of candlelight that enlivens the church reminds us that Jesus is the light of the world who has conquered all darkness and death. The Paschal candle that is lit at the Easter Vigil will remain in the church throughout the year as a sign of Christ’s death and resurrection.
Family Faith Activity: During the day on Holy Saturday, spend some time as a family talking about the Paschal Mystery — Jesus’ crucifixion, death and resurrection. Take a walk around your neighborhood looking for signs of new life in springtime. Talk about how Jesus rising to new life is truly transformative and life-changing.

Christ became obedient to the point of death, even death on the cross( Phil.2: 8). How will you respond to His infinite Love?

He said, “It is finished.” And bowing his head, he handed over the spirit. ~ John 19:30

GOOD FRIDAY – March 29th
Morning Prayer - 9:00 am in the chapel
Stations of the Cross - Noon in the church
Celebration of the Lord’s Passion - 3:00 pm in the church
Seven Last Words of Christ - 7:00 pm in the church
Good Friday is a somber remembrance of Jesus’ crucifixion and death on the cross. It is a day of fasting and penance and a time to examine all of the places in our lives where we fail to follow Christ and fall into sin. Good Friday is not merely a commemoration of a historical event; rather, Christ’s sacrificial death on the cross, along with his glorious resurrection, comprise the heart of the Christian faith.
Good Friday is not a Mass; holy Communion that is distributed has been consecrated on Holy Thursday and kept in the tabernacle for adoration. Also Stations of the Cross are offered on Good Friday.
Family Faith Activity: Pray the Lord’s Prayer at bedtime on this night in remembrance of Christ’s gift for all of salvation.

Our 2nd graders are filling out job applications... to be the Easter Bunny's Assistant! #Eastersonitsway

After spending the morning learning about Holy Thursday, 8th grade studied the Old Testament readings for the Easter Vigil Mass and talked about how they point us to Christ. As a group, they were able to take the long story of Salvation History and bring it down to 24 words, keeping in mind there is always more to learn, that God's mercy is always available, and that death never wins!

All are encouraged to participate in the Holy Thursday liturgy this evening at 7 PM.

On this last day of school before Easter recess, SMS students & staff have been pausing to say a decade of the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary together over the announcements throughout the day. This observance of our Lord's Agony in the Garden is an important reminder of the events of Holy Thursday. #holyweek #triduum

The Altar of Repose in our chapel awaits our solemn procession and and adoration of the exposed Most Blessed Sacrament tonight, following our first Mass of the Holy Triduum, the Mass of the Lord's Supper. Tonight the church will be darkened and the Altar of Repose will be candlelit.

Miss Reeves' middle school science classes reviewed some physical properties this week using Peeps. They wondered if the solubility of Peeps was affected by the temperature of water, what substances (if any) dissolved Peeps the fastest, and found the volume, mass and density of a Peep.

Then he took the bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which will be given for you; do this in memory of me." ~ Luke 22:19
