Mrs. Andrea Whipple teaches grades 6, 7, and 8 Math, Regents Algebra 1, and grade 6 Religion here at St. Mary School. This is her 5th year at SMS. She spent 2 years as the Kindergarten Aide, and then switched to teaching Middle School Math. As much as she misses being with the "little people", her true joy is sharing her love of math with students. She loves teaching math all day long!
Mrs. Whipple has three sons, Joshua, Benjamin, and Timothy with her husband Mick, as well as a dog named Icy and a guinea pig named Simon. Josh is starting to plan his wedding, Ben is in Nashville attending Belmont University and working on his music, and Tim attends St. Joe's where he loves being involved in the Swing Choir and the theater program.
Mrs. Whipple's hobbies include gardening, cooking, taking walks with her husband and dog, as well as reading in her spare time. Her favorite foods are any kind of pasta as well as pizza.
One way Mrs. Whipple keeps her Math classroom fresh and fun when her students are working with Algebraic equations is by singing the "plug it in" tune from the Glade air freshener commercials. We think singing is a great way to liven up a Math lesson!
Thank you Mrs. Whipple for your "fresh take" on an important curriculum area for our students, and for sharing your love of learning here at SMS.
