"Fit for a queen" is the only way to describe what awaits our Montessori & Kindergarten Moms, Grandmas & Aunts this morning for the "Mother's Day Tea"! This annual tradition is beloved by our littlest SMS "bees" & their special guests! #MothersDay #QueenBees

A number of SMS students were recognized yesterday after Mass for exhibiting our virtue of the month for April - fortitude. The March and April Diocesan Character awards were also given out to students who have displayed the traits of sacrifice and problem solving, respectively. Additionally, 8th grader Ashley Zielinski was awarded her Junior National Honor Society certificate. Congratulations to all! 🏆🎖️👏🏻 #characterEd #virtues #fortitude #sacrifice #probemsolving

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, & blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now & at the hour of our death, Amen.

This excerpt from an early 90's school newsletter welcomed Sister M. Fidelis Scalzo to SMS! From 1962 - 1981, Sister Fidelis was assigned to Japan where she devoted her life to retreat work and taught English as a second language. Later she was welcomed by the Sisters of St. Francis in Buffalo, where she made her final vows in 1990. Sister Fidelis taught at several schools staffed by the Sisters of St. Francis, including SMS. Sister Fidelis is remembered for her creative work, her loving gentle spirit and beautiful smile. Do you have a fond memory of a teacher you had at SMS? Students were treated to a familiar face at Mass this morning for the feast of the Ascension - Fr. Bryan Zielenieski! After a generous dousing with Holy Water, Grade 5 led us in the liturgy, and there was even a surprise guest appearance by "Captain Disciple". Fr. Bryan's message for us today was to look forward not back, to focus on the special mission that God has for each one of us, and know that all things are possible through Jesus. #schoolMass #AscensionThursday

Congrats to our grade 1 & 2 SMS Bees "Mites" Soccer team on their first win of the season! It was truly a team effort with 7 goals scored - great job all! 💙🐝🤍

"Did people know that Jesus was the Son of God when he was born?"
"How long did it take Jesus to carry the cross to Calvary?"
“Did it really take 7 days for God to complete creation?”
Grade 6 asked Fr. Tom great questions like these during his visit to their class this week!

Miss Reeves' Regents Biology students took advantage of the beautiful weather today to study for their upcoming Regents exam.

A special thank you to the SMS Class of 2023 for coming up with the idea for our "Little Lending Library". They planned & built the project, & solicited book donations. What a wonderful resource for our faith community - remember to stop by when you're on campus!

Peep, peep... the chicks are here! Our Montessori students were beside themselves with joy this morning when they came in to discover THREE chicks had hatched out overnight in the class incubator. The multi-aged pre-K and Kindergarten students have been waiting patiently and counting down to "hatch day". When ready, the newly hatched chicks will be transferred into their brand new brooder box where the children can observe, and help care for them.

May is the month of Mary! For centuries, the Catholic Church has set aside the entire month to honor Mary, Mother of God. Each day this May we'll be posting a photo of a statue, painting, or image of our Blessed Mother that is around our school or church campus. See if you can identify where the Mary in the photo is, and say a Hail Mary along with us. We're going easy on you with this first one... comment below if you know where this Mary is! #wheresMary #Marysmonth

First Communicant, Cora Hardick, assisted by her brother Calvin, braved this morning's rain to crown St. Mary's statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary with a beautiful crown of white flowers. We are truly grateful for their devotion to the Blessed Mother. "Mary, Mother of God, pray for us."
