The 2024 SMS Father Daughter Dance was splash-tacular! The "Under the Sea" theme was a big hit with the girls and their special guys. They created sea shell photo frames, enjoyed some deliciously cute marine-themed snacks & drinks, and of course danced the night away! Thank you to the HSA event chairpersons, Jill Papke & LeighAnn Urbanski, and to Maygold Manor for hosting us! Throughout the school year Fr. Tom and Fr. Joe have been visiting Religion classes and offering students the opportunity to ask them questions about well.... anything! Fr. Tom was in grade 8 religion classes this week, and our students asked some really great questions about everything from Fr. Tom's favorite TV show, video games, & sports teams, to his thoughts on the priest shortage in our diocese & the Road to Renewal, the role of women in the church now & throughout history, and what sparked his vocation to the priesthood. Great questions grade 8, and inspiring answers Fr. Tom! #priesthood #vocations

Did you know we have a Little Lending Library? The SMS classes of 2023 & 2024 have worked together to create & install the library as a service to our faith community. Located at the back entrance to the church, the library is free & available for everyone to use! Borrow a book & return it when you're done, or donate a book you've already read. The books will change out weekly as they are read and enjoyed. We hope you enjoy the St. Mary's Little Lending Library!

SMS & our Home School Association (HSA) have a long tradition of hosting social events & fundraisers like the Craft Show highlighted in this April 1984 news clipping. These events have not only enriched the learning environment at SMS by providing financial support, but have fostered unity, & forged lasting bonds & friendships within our faith community. Do you have a favorite HSA event from the past or present? If so, comment below and share a memory or story from it! #stMarys175 #ThrowbackThursday #SMStheplacetoBEE

Miss Ziomek's 3rd grade class did a "gallery walk" of their Social Studies state research projects! Students wrote one thing they learned, one thing they liked, & one thing that could've been done differently about each project. They enjoyed learning about the different states!

May is here! Students are allowed to wear navy blue uniform shorts with a uniform polo or warm weather uniform tee from now through the end of the school year. Hooray!

Happy School Principals' Day to the one and only Mrs. D'Angelo! Without her, SMS would not operate on a daily basis - she sets the academic tone by encouraging students to thrive, and implements her vision to provide a successful and positive environment for students and teachers.
We celebrated Mrs. D'Angelo today by gathering in the gym for announcements and a photo this morning. Students presented her with handmade cards & gifts. Thank you Mrs. D'Angelo for all you do for SMS! #SchoolPrincipalsDay #SMStheplacetoBEE

Profe Maria's Spanish classes have been busy the past few weeks completing lessons on clothing. Grade 5 constructed camisetas (t-shirts) for stuffed animals, while grade 6 researched what makes different Spanish speaking countries unique, and then designed camisetas for the countries they chose based on their unique features & cultural aspects. #Spanish #culture #enrichment

ANIMA CHRISTI:
Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O good Jesus, hear me.
Within your wounds conceal me.
Do not permit me to be parted from you.
From the evil foe protect me.
At the hour of my death call me. A
nd bid me come to you, to praise you with all your saints for ever and ever.
Amen.

Congratulations to Patrick MacDiarmid (grade 8) and Mia Charland (SMS class of 2022) on receiving Altar Server Awards from Bishop Mike this past weekend!
Father David Baker, director of vocations for the diocese, likened the altar servers in attendance to an "army of superheroes.” Father Baker continued, ”Young men and women, do you realize that when you put that alb on in the sacristy before Mass each Sunday morning, you are putting on a superhero’s cape? You are living a heroic life....By your service, your devotion to the sacraments of the altar, by the choices you make in your daily life, you preach the Gospel by your life.”
We are so proud of our "superheroes" Patrick and Mia - what an honor!

Teens from St. Mary's and St. Teresa's had a great time at Making Connections! They enjoyed time with new friends from around the diocese, joined in service projects, learned how to remain in Christ through changes and challenges in life, and ended the day celebrating Mass with Bishop Mike and Fr. Bryan.
