Students at SMS receive art instruction twice weekly, can join Art Club starting in grade 4, and have the opportunity to exhibit their work in our annual "Night of the Arts" show that coincides with our Spring Concert. ❄️🏀 After school activities may be cancelled today because of the snow, but it's basketball season & our SMS “Bees” of all ages have been giving it their all out on the court recently. From our Co-ed Grade 3/4 Instructional team, to our Boys & Girls JV teams, to our Varsity Bees - getting involved in sports at SMS is a slam-dunk!
Did you know that students as young as KINDERGARTEN can play on our sports teams? Our sports program allows all children to learn, play & compete on teams that are coached by dedicated parent volunteers, & financially supported by our Home School Association (HSA). Christmas tree still up? Still nibbling on Christmas cookies? That's okay, because it's still Christmas according to Catholics! Christmas Day is not the finale of the Christmas season, but rather its beginning. We transition from Advent, a season of preparation to one of celebration, which lasts until the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord.
👑👑👑🌟Today, we celebrated the Epiphany of the Lord, or Three Kings Day by blessing our classroom doors, & celebrating the visit of the Magi to the infant Jesus, signifying Christ's revelation to the world. Our 4th grade class put on a beautiful Nativity play before Christmas break that including the visit of the Three Kings to the infant Jesus.

We also recognized students who received Diocesan Character Trait Awards for resilience, devotion, gratitude, & perseverance. The students who received Character Trait Awards were selected by their peers for displaying these amazing traits.
Lastly, the St. Mary's Knights of Columbus were present to award certificates to some of our students who won their annual Soccer Challenge.
