Congratulations to Lydia M., grade 7, on receiving the October Diocesan #Character Award for #Sportsmanship! Lydia was recognized for playing fair, being respectful to others, and handling both winning and losing with grace.

Last Friday we recognized students after our weekly school Mass who have embodied the #virtue of #Stewardship during the month of November. Stewardship is a virtue that involves being grateful and generous with the gifts God has given us, and using those gifts to serve others.

The second week of #Advent is upon us, and our theme is #Peace. Intentionally bringing stillness and peace into our souls through quiet prayer is the best groundwork for welcoming the Messiah into our homes at His Nativity.

🏀 The SMS/NBVM JV Boys Basketball team lost a heartbreaker to Nardin today, 21-17. The game was tied with under 5 minutes to go. Despite the loss, the team showed marked improvement in their 2nd game of the season. Will K. & Joe M. led in scoring combining for 10 points. The defense played stout in the first half, with Brayden M., Daniel W., & David M. getting steals. Grayson V. owned the boards getting 4 rebounds while also drawing multiple shooting fouls. Adding to the rebounds were Jack D., Eli Z. & Leo K. Liam R. played shutdown defense, not allowing his matchup to get the ball. David R. led the team with assists finding open teammates for scoring chances.

🏀The SMS/NBVM JV Girls basketball team came up with their first win of the season today against Immaculate Conception of East Aurora, 22-13.
In only their second game playing together, the team was well balanced: Mia G. (NVBM) led with 6 points, while Milania M. (NVBM), Alexa Z. (NVBM), & Elyse R. (SMS) contributed 4 points each, & Kaitlyn M. (SMS) and Lucy C. (SMS) each contributed 2 points.
Lizzie T. contributed by playing great defense.
Congrats ladies!

Today marks the beginning of the first week of #Advent, and our theme for the week is Hope. With the beginning of the new liturgical year, the story of our salvation has circled back to its starting point: the expectation and #HOPE of the Messiah.

"Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love & his wonderful deeds for mankind, for he satisfies the thirsty & fills the hungry with good things."
