Looking for a last minute stocking stuffer? We've got the perfect idea... #SnowMeTheMoney #earlybird

Our Montessori Children's House took a "Christmas Scavenger Hunt" around the school this week. Here is a photo of the list of items they tried to find in case you want to try it at home! #signsoftheseason

Our Montessori students treated parents and students alike to a Christmas Concert after Mass yesterday! Their adorable renditions of "Up on the Housetop", "Jingle Bells", "Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer", and "We Wish you a Merry Christmas" warmed everyone's hearts! #CuteOverload

Dressed in Christmas pajamas, our Montessori friends had fun with Legos, frosted cookies, and did a "magic milk" science experiment at their Christmas party. They've also enjoyed some hands-on time with Baby Jesus. #Montessori

Mr. Dolan and these bright 8th graders would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas! #brighteststudents

Mrs. Schnackel's 1st grade had a blast at their Christmas party, which included presents for all, and hot cocoa with LOTS of marshmallows! #marshmallowworld

Mrs. Wojtaszek's 2nd grade had a sweet time this week making gingerbread houses! Thank you to all of our amazing teachers who help our children celebrate the season and make it memorable.

It may have been an early dismissal, but we were able to pack in a whole day of fun on the last day before Christmas break! Character Ed in the gym started the day off right with prayer, song and getting some "wiggles" out before Mass! #characterEd #halfday #ChristmasVacation

Sixth grade had to be lively and quick to ring each other in their reindeer antler game today! Looks like they had so much fun, thank you room parents!

Grade 4 had their Christmas party yesterday, and were treated to pizza, Christmas carols on guitar, and yummy marshmallow snowman snacks that they built (and ate) themselves!

School Mass was extra beautiful this morning since the church is already decorated for Christmas because of the shortened last week of Advent! We were led by Miss Sanderson's 3rd grade class, and the priests had Christmas treats to hand out afterwards. #SchoolMass #christmascandy

Fifth grade had a lot of fun at their Christmas party today, playing games and making snowmen out of marshmallows! Thank you to the SMS Moms and Dads who volunteer to be room parents and help make all the fun possible!

Mrs. Whipple's 6th grade students recently exercised their mental math skills while playing the game “24”. #MentalMath #MathIsFun

Our 6th graders worked on persuasive writing this week... to Santa! Their objective was to try to convince the man in red to hire them as "Head Elf". In Makerspace, they then created a toy to show off their talents, read their story, and presented to the class. Great job elves!

A bit of history on our school, published in 1999 on the 150th anniversary. #throwbackthursday #stmarys175

Miss Kerwin's 4th grade class has been celebrating "Christmas around the world" this month. Students learned about holiday traditions in Canada, Mexico, England, France, Germany, China, Sweden, and Australia. They even made some Christmas treats to sample!

SMS is a STREAM school: integrating Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, and Math into interdisciplinary, hands-on, educational experiences. Recently, grades 3-5 worked together in small groups to build some sweet standing structures out of toothpicks and candy!

This morning we had some sweet volunteers manning a coffee cart that went door to door delivering treats to our amazing teachers and staff! Thank you to the Latona family for the coffee, tea, yogurt, cookies, muffins, fruit, and holiday cheer!

In October, Mrs. Wojtaszek's 2nd grade class was learning how to write a friendly letter. They decided to each write a letter to our President Joseph Biden. Today, they got an exciting reply! It was an embossed letter and photograph from President Biden and his wife encouraging them to speak up and use their voices, to stay curious, to believe in themselves and to be kind! I'm sure this has made an impression on them and what a gift it is to be recognized!

SMS students are in the news for their good deeds! Whether donating toys to the YWCA, or "earning straw" at school and home, our students' hearts are in the right place as they prepare for Christmas. <3 Read the WNY Catholic article here: https://tinyurl.com/4fctdkuk
