Tomorrow is the 100th day of school, let's celebrate! 💯 Montessori students may wear pajamas. #SpiritWeek #SMStheplacetoBEE 🐝💙🤍

Today's #SpiritWeek theme was "loving our school family". Students dressed in red, pink, or purple and observed St. Valentine's Day early since Ash Wednesday is tomorrow. Classes had fun exchanging sweet cards & treats, and some even did special activities like making ice cream!

Our 1st day of #SpiritWeek was super groovy! Students dressed up as a variety of decades & musical genres, made instruments, put on a show, played "Name that Tune", & even made up jingles for our school! Enjoy some of the day's "greatest hits" here: http://tinyurl.com/462p9z2h

The SMS Varsity Lady Bees demonstrated resilience and grit last night during their last home game of the season. Coming back from a ten point deficit, they were able to tighten the final score to 18-14 versus Nativity.

Parents, please join us if you are able for Ash Wednesday Mass tomorrow at 9 am. Students may wear their uniform, or a St. Mary School Spirit Wear shirt with uniform bottoms for our school-wide Lenten retreat! 💜✝️ #SpiritWeek #Lent #SMStheplacetoBEE 🐝💙🤍

Thank you to our Home School Association and the wonderful Room Parent volunteers who collect funds at the beginning of each school year to be able to offer monthly teacher appreciation lunches and snacks! SMS faculty and staff were treated to quite a spread today! #spiritweek

Science can be electrifying! Pictured here are third grade students, exploring the concept of static electricity with Mrs. Witkowski. #scienceisfun

Our a-MAZE-ing Kindergartners had fun constructing marble mazes this past week out of Legos! This #STREAM activity helps introduce even our youngest students to the engineering design process, especially when they learn to test and improve their designs! If you're interested in exploring all the ways St. Mary School gives families MORE, call us to schedule a school tour at 716-689-8424. We are currently accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school year. Learn more and apply by visiting our website: https://www.stmaryschoolswormville.org/ #Kindergarten #SMStheplacetoBEE
Montessori students visited "Profe's Market" this week. They are learning the Spanish words for different types of fruit, and colors! Learning about real-life situations in a playful and fun way is a key component of the Montessori teaching style, while foreign language study enhances listening skills and memory, as well as allowing for more effective participation in a multi-cultural world.

Our skaters had too much fun for just one post today, enjoy a few more photos from our HSA Skating Party. 😊⛸️💙🐝🤍

SMS building lifelong friendships!

Mrs. Wojtaszek's 2nd grade celebrated Fat Tuesday Day or Mardi Gras for their STREAM activity today. They had fun decorating masks, listening to Mardi Gras Music, then making and eating a king cake!

Congratulations to our students recognized for displaying #dilligence during the month of January! Congratulations to 4th grader Jack DeGolier as well for his receipt of the Diocesan Character Award for #determination. #characterEd #virtues

There were lots of smiles at the HSA Ice Skating Party this afternoon! Held at the Northtown Center this year, the skating party is a much anticipated annual tradition. Students were able to purchase dress down passes as well, with the proceeds going to SABAH.

Mrs. Wojtaszek's class learned about worry dolls in Math. This is a Guatemalan tradition. Mrs. Leong thought it would be a fun project for them to take on in Makerspace. The idea is to tell the doll your worries before you go to bed, then place the doll under your pillow. When you wake in the morning, your worries have been taken away by the doll!
